Provides academic instruction and student academic support for assigned academic
department. Performs tasks designed to ensure the quality and consistency of academic instruction, including governance activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Earned Master’s degree in Hospitality Management or Business Administration (MBA)

1 year experience in teaching, pedagogy, and curricula development.

Job Specific Task List

-­ Teaches assigned courses in hospitality & tourism management, and general business.

- Participates in curriculum development, maintenance, and assessment.

- Maintains office hours and/or regular contact with students.

- Maintains an office and participates in job­related activities at the Harrisburg Campus.

- Commits to excellence, innovation, and ethical standards while fulfilling student learning outcomes.

- Provides academic support and advising to students.

- Mentors students at the Harrisburg Campus in the Hospitality & Tourism programs.

- Supports department and program outreach related to student recruitment activities.

- Participates in college governance by serving on joint, ad hoc, faculty, campus, department, and discipline committees.

- Participates in the recruitment and hiring of new faculty and staff through participation on assigned search committees.

- Participates in college service activities.

- Participates in professional growth activities and maintains awareness of new trends and developments within areas of instructional responsibility.

- Creates innovation in a community college environment; builds consensus and works collaboratively with faculty and staff.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Preferred Experience

7+ years work experience in hospitality & tourism management in either hotel/lodging management, restaurant operations & food service, travel & tourism or a combination of the three areas.

1+ years experience in college level teaching, pedagogy, and curriculum development

Additional Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of and commitment to the community college mission.

Knowledge of and experience with desktop/laptop computers, mobile learning devices, and office and educational software applications.

Knowledge of and experience with a variety of instructional technologies.

Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.

Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
