Provides primarily online academic instruction and student academic support for the Health and Public Service Department. Performs tasks designed to ensure the quality and consistency of academic instruction.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Gerontology, Health Care Administration, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related field required.
College-level teaching and curricula planning experience.

Employment experience working with older population.

Job Specific Task List

Participates and successfully completes online course creation and design training opportunities and demonstrates proficiency developing courses through the online learning system.

Teaches assigned online Gerontology courses.

Program coordination may be required.

Participates in curriculum development and maintenance.

Participates in assessment development, implementation, and reporting.

Maintains office hours and/or regular contact with students either face-to-face or through digital or online mediums.

Commits to excellence, innovation, and ethical standards while fulfilling student learning outcomes.

Provides academic support and advising to students including.

Participates in college governance by serving on joint, ad hoc, faculty, campus/unit, department and discipline committees.

Participates in the recruitment and hiring of new faculty through participation on assigned search committees.

Participates in college service activities.

Participates in professional growth activities and maintains awareness of new trends and developments within areas of instructional responsibility.

Creates innovation in a community college environment; builds consensus and works collaboratively with faculty and staff.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Preferred Experience

Experience teaching blended/hybrid and/or online classes.

Proficiency with instructional design and course development for online course delivery.

Additional Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of and commitment to the community college mission.

Knowledge of and experience with personal computers and software applications.

Knowledge of and experience with a variety of instructional technologies.

Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to establish positive relationships with students, faculty and staff.

Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.
