This position assists students in a front line capacity by answering questions regarding financial aid processing. In addition, the staff will gather paperwork, process paperwork, conduct verifications on students, review financial aid processing with students and families. The staff will assist in new student orientation, open houses and other campus events to conduct presentations related to financial aid. The staff must remain up to date and knowledgeable regarding financial aid policies, processes and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

H.S. Diploma or equivalent and two years of experience. Or a combination of experience and education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Job Specific Task List

1. Advises students and parents throughout the financial aid process. Explains processes and assists with completing financial aid applications and requirements, such as filing the FAFSA, completing Financial Aid Authorization, Loan Entrance Counseling and signing Master Promissory Notes.

2. Serves as key frontline staff answering telephone, walk-in and email inquiries. Answers general inquiries regarding financial aid status; identifies issues for resolution and refers to the appropriate staff member, scheduling appointments when necessary. Contacts student with outcome of inquiry when appropriate.

3. Collects, organizes and processes incoming confidential documents including verification forms, tax returns and W2 statements from students and parents; reviews forms to verify accuracy and completeness; utilizes proper method of communication to request missing information. Maintains a file of confidential files and records.

4. Processes documents by logging into computer system; scans and indexes documents into document imaging system.

5. Assist with the training of student assistants in the student financial aid office.

6. Ensures supply of forms is adequate, requesting needed material when appropriate.

7. Maintains contact log for Financial Aid Office, compiling data daily, monthly and annually.

8. Assists with campus activities and presentations.

9. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
