This position supports the functions of the Counseling and Advising Department.

-Ability to help students with registration at the computer kiosk and in computer labs
-Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
-Ability to manage student workers to covering staffing needs

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.

Job Specific Task List

Schedule advising/counseling appointments for students

Greet, assist, and/or direct visitors to the Welcome Center/Financial Aid Assist students with registration.

Prepare materials for various meetings and special events, including New Student Orientation, Open House, and One-Stop events.

Manage multiple telephone lines
Record and distribute meeting minutes for multiple groups Hire, train and manage student employees

Direct students to general online resources for advising

Help students navigate resources on MyHACC and HACCWeb

Update information regarding availability of advising staff, including office hour information and bulletin boards. Screens students seeking counseling/advising and applies knowledge to direct them to the appropriate staff member

Exercises judgment and maintains confidentiality in regards to students seeking mental health counseling

Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
